I can’t find the rod I want. Can I order direct? Often times, a dealer will assist you in ordering what you need. Queens Creek does this routinely. There are also other dealers that sell Star Rods online so you may search for them using a search engine. Note: Rods purchased from internet auction sites may void the warranty unless the seller is an authorized dealer (see the Dealer Locator for verification).
How do I know what line weight to use? Most rods will tell you by looking at the number printed on the side. For example, a SG1525ISM would have a line weight of 15-25 lbs. Likewise, a Delux 30/60 would have a line weight of 30-60 lbs.
What is a PowerButt® ? The patented Power•Butt is an exclusive Star Rod invention. The Power•Butt is made from a durable composite material that is kind to anglers and mean to fish. Many times tougher than EVA foam, the comfortable Power•Butt is abrasion resistant, lightweight and draws from a rod holder more easily then EVA foam. It is lighter and offers more grip than an aluminum butt while still drawing from a rod holder just as easy.
What causes a rod to break at the butt? Typically, a rod broken at the butt means the rod was “over-fished” (trying to catch a fish too heavy for the rod). We also see this in rods that are not trolling type rods being used in a rod holder. Rods are not made to be used in this manner and can break due to undue stress on the butt of the rod. When a rod is held in the hand it allows the butt to move and flex like is was made to do.
