SMOOOOOTH DRAG produces an extensive selection of replacement drag washers for Penn, Penn International, Daiwa and Ambassadeur reels.
Smoooooth Drag uses a silicone and high density fiber blend in their standard "Smooooothie" washers. The silicone in the washer is a self lubricating agent, which means you never need and never should oil these washers. The washers are also virtually waterproof. Smoooooth Drag also has a line of "SUPER Smooooothie" drag washers, for more popular reel models. These are made of a sensational zinc and rubber compound material. They will sustain heat to 1200 degrees without losing friction capabilities. The "SUPER Smooooothie" rubber and zinc compound is also used in their production of the Penn INTERNATIONAL drag washers. The washer material is cut and ground to exact specifications that will allow your reel to go in to, and have a free spool, and also allow for maximum drag adjustment. The washer material is then bonded to a fixed aluminum washer that is hard anodized for protection from salt water. Smoooooth Drag also produces metal washers as a compliment to either the standard "Smooooothie" or "SUPER Smooooothie" drag washers. Their washers are stamped from brass, ground FLAT, lapped and then hard nickled for maximum heat resistance. These are available for popular Penn star drag model reels. For Penn Internationals we offer stainless steel plates, ground FLAT and lapped for a super smooth surface for the friction washer to work against. There is no asbestos or fiberglass in any Smoooooth Drag products which could be harmful to your reels. Click on the type reel you are interested in.
